Pie Kia!

I recall one of our early trips out with our Godson BabyA (not so baby anymore now) and we were all taken over by his "hokkien slang" when we tried to teach him a few hokkien words.

Here's the recap of our hokkien lessons...

Now, some humorous Singaporeans even opened a food chain to delight our hokkien roots with some attitude!

Yummies!

Ad did it again!

He served up Boon Tong Kee standard chicken rice after 2.5hrs of intensive preparation & cooking.

Together with "ling-lok" (lemon coke in cantonese), its just yummy beyond words!

Coral Weed

In our visit to an old friend's house, she introduced to us this product for strengthening of the joints! (If you see an 82yr old man doing squats after taking this for a couple of weeks, when previously he has problems walking about... you know that this stuff works!)

Turns out that its actually dried up in this tiny packet... so you've gotta soak it in water for about 3hrs....

and it grew so much that it almost overflowed the pot!

Gotta double boil it with some rock sugar for taste and consume it like bird's nest when its hot. It turns into agar when its cooled hee...

Let's see if I still hear the clicking sound in my knee after trying this stuff out....

Jenad's Tirumisu attempt!

Are you wondering where is the end product??

It was so delicious that we forgot to take pictures of it!! Yummy!!! Must do it again!

But this time, we'll be more prepared to get a bigger espresso coffee maker... I had to boil like 10times! *tired*

But most definitely well rewarded with a yummy dessert!!

Yeah!

*success*

Cakes from Shang

One evening a few girls were gathering under the starlight with some good cakes from Shangri-La.

They were so yummy!

First one from the left is a Almond Nut Cake, followed by something White Chocolate cake (was it apricot? hmm...), then it was the something chocolate cake and then the very tasty, very sweet Chocolate cake.

They ALL were so yummy! You gotta go try it yourself someday.

BBQ!

Yes after a long absence of charcoal burnt food in our diet, Canticle has revived BBQ!!

The night was filled with food, alcohol, games, fun and laughter.... kids had fun playing squash, table tennis, swimming in the pool (Big Brother R included hee) as well as the good dose of running around playing catching.

While there's a strong rotation of chefs at the pit churning out large amount of good quality food to feed us, its the gang of RED that takes the day like a storm!

oops sorry, that was mostly just ME hahahaha
the others in the background are the accessories

After a long time, I finally got to hug and play and take picture with one of my favourite young man!!!!

Eden Cafe

with a name like that, food must be heavenly right?

RIGHT!!
the chef is some ya ya chef from some ya ya hotel and his dishes are unique using a floral theme.

was in numerous media interviews and recommendations.

We tried 3 out of their many many desserts and found them YUMMY! Rating 4.5 Stars!

Chocolate mousse cake, heated up with a soft chocolate interior that will melt away as u break its soft creamy cake apart. It has rum inside I think but can bearly taste it. Chocolate is sweet but not overpowering sweet, hence a great cake for those who are concern with sugar loading.

Next was a peanut-black sesame cake which has a soft cake interior to balance out the rich creamy peanut butter-black sesame exterior. Not something which I would eat daily but would be great for those peanut butter lovers. Dun look down on its petite size, it can certainly fill you up!

last but not the least, sorry for the cut up photo, forgot to take the "before" picture hee

cos its the MOST delicious pastry/cake I've ever tried (after Jane's caka station and the strawberry mousse cake which is my childhood fav....).

This cake is some hibiscus something something cake, it has a light fluffy pastry wrapping the hibiscus interior that is soft like ice cream, overlaid with strawberry sauce, absolutely yummy!

Go Try It! The shop is along Club Street. Cant miss it!

GST made my tabao cost increase by 10%!

Its NOT true that its only a 2% increase in GST. If you think about it, its 2/5 which is 40% increase! Scary hor??

All's well until I found out that buying food at our coffeeshop gets ALOT MORE EXPENSIVE since the GST hike!

We used to enjoy a 2meat+1veggie dish with rice for $2.50, cheap and good which is perfect for hardlanders. Fills our tummy and doesnt harm our purse so much.

Just as our garmen increased their "2%" hike on GST, our tabao lunch boxes also went up alot MORE expensive. What used to feed me well at $2.50, now can barely pay for 2 dishes only! :(

Angri!

guess the cost of this meal? $2.20!!

Yummy food along Thomson Rd

Thomson Road's food scene seems to be building up rapidly over the past few years. Every few months, new stores pop up and serve a new taste. This time we tested the HK style resturant which serves some of my favourite food! They even had a huge plasma tv tuned to channel 48 on SCV to show HK cantonese programs! hee....

check out the yummies....

noodle soup, soup base was very fragent and delicious, can tastes the hours of effort put into boil the soup.

the looks of the porridge is very cantonese also! thick and tasty! After almost finishing the bowl of porridge, Mummy E discovered the egg underneath it! hahaha

This is mee sua, a steal for taste and quantity. Comes with pork chop on the side as well. BabyA could not stop asking for more! Even attempted to abandon his porridge for this mee sua. Soup base was delicious as well!

yummy!

Botak Jones in TP!

Botak Jones has finally arrived in TP!

In the industrial park somemore haha.... one evening, after much hype, we finally went down to try out the food.

To kick start the night, Ad ordered their Hoegarden....

foamy and in a huge glass, yum yum

the food was ok, but the mint sauce that went with the lamb chop was delicious, it went well even with fries hee

there was a bar with a pool table next to it. a pretty relaxing place to chill out if one is not too particular about airconditioning. With a definite place to sit for sure!!

But they are CLOSED on sundays hor....

The Perfect Half Boil Eggs

YES!! No more worries!! NO more over-cooked or under-cooked half boil eggs in the morning!!

Very *embrassingly* we've been having half boiled eggs at the coffeeshop downstairs our house which usually cost $4.20 for 4 half boiled eggs together with a cup of kopi and milo. Which is enough for us to buy a whole tray of eggs and a pack of refillable milo/kopi hee so we figured we might as well do it ourselves.

But hor, we always tend to OVER cook the eggs or Under cook it, seldom ever perfect.

Then the OTHER problem is: we tend to forgot the other 6 eggs in the tray/fridge hahaha

we came along this gadget which is pretty retro cos I remember seeing my aunties and uncles use it in their homes when I was a kid, we thought it'll be fun to try it out at home hee

So after putting in 4 eggs, I filled it up to the line (with 4 eggs icon) with hot water which I just boiled....

as I was watching the water drip away into the container underneath it, I noticed some white stuff coming out of my eggs (2 of them to be exact)!
I broke the eggs!!! ARGH!!

I totally did not expect the eggs to crack when I dropped them into the container, I guess I must have been too anxious to cook them haha

so after all the water got drained away, (leaving behind 1inch which Ad claimed it will NEVER get drained away completely), we removed the eggs and tried it, yum yum, it was abit on the over cooked side but still delicious! hehe

In our 2nd attempt, we had PERFECTLY half-Boiled Eggs!! hahaha

3 reasons contribute to this success...
1. the eggs were NOT broken hee
2. the eggs were chilled (not room temperature like we just bought)
3. we removed the eggs when the water level could not drop any further ie. cannot leave the eggs with the remaining 1inch of water

So cool!

next time u come to our house and wanna eat half boiled eggs, just ASK and you will b given!!

we'll just charge coffeeshop rates hahaha
