tight labby
we did a shift from a huge 60+sqm lab to a 30+sqm lab at the end of last year. due to the insufficient space in our "new" lab, we had to abandon several of our bulky equipment....
suddenly last week, we received a big YELLOW metal cabinet meant for flammable items INSIDE our tiny lab. After much manuvouring, it found its place just across our sink from the doorway.
we tried to "explain" to the authorites that gave us the cabinet that arrangement actually REDUCE the chance of us surviving any fire or other hazards, as the items in the cabinet might just explode and bombing our escape passageway.
their explanation for having it INSIDE the lab instead of outside..... "more damage will be incurred if its along the open air corridor"
I cannot understand this logic nor accept it. But that stinky yellow cabinet is IN our lab anyway.
I wonder who funded the initiative and how long it took from budgeting to budget approval to sourcing for the right quotation to getting the approval for the quotation to ordering the cabinets to delivering the cabinets to allocating the cabinets and finally stuffing it into our already bursting lab. Which part of this process does NO ONE in the whole entire time not think of checking its feasibility while its INSIDE the labs or checking if the lab members require such a bulky item in their already FULL lab or even have the courtesy to send a note/email/phone call to inform us of the delivery and hence make space, make TIME to accept the item.
Where are their brains? Or when you are so far up THERE in the ladder, it doesnt matter what you do, you just implement and expect gratefulness from those below? What happen to open communication? What happen to basic courtesy of "hey, we're ordering this stuff for you, remember to get it..."?
Alot of money could possibly be saved if proper survey was conducted to identify how many of these big bulky yellow cabinets are truly needed instead of having one in every two labs and leaving them totally empty.

This represents the big bulky item in a tight space.
Have problems trying to "tell" how tight it is??? here's another one... this lady is slender with 26' waist.... and there's barely any room, this lab does not allow entry to anyone bigger than 30' waist I'm sorry....
