Things that make me go hmm.... II

I always wonder about how grass root leaders and town council members discuss and decide on matters concerning their residents. Staying in my HDB estate for almost 3yrs, I've never met either parties along the corridors, coffeeshops or walking about talking to the residents. It makes me wonder how do they actually decide on which are the areas to improve upon the estates and how do they intend to go about doing it.

Occassionally, we get a full colored, 8-12page newsletter from our town council and I hate to say this, I hardly ever read its contents, it feels so unfamiliar, who are these people on the cover? When were they even in my estate taking those nice pictures which I never noticed? After this year's GE, I've became more alert on how our town councils are managing our estate and I'll start reading their newsletters from now onwards. Maybe if time allows, I'll do a little reporting from their activties LIVE instead of reading it on print 3months later.

Till then, a letter in today's forum kinda sounded out the questions that I've had in my head for a while.....

Maybe there's some way for the residents to see how allocated funds within the estate is spent to let us be more aware of how our resources are being managed.

Having said that, I'm happy that I've got a regular cleaner that clears our corridors, washes the stairs, wipe down the lifts, clears the trash and others who replaces the light bulbs, reminds the residents that littering from their windows are NO NOs, maintaining our external facades etc. Its a wonderful environment to allow me to keep wanting come home early to relax in a peaceful home.
