Polling Day Adventure

After an exhausting polling exercise, we decided to join a few other friends in Sembawang to receive the results of our GE2006. As we headed towards Sembawang for the 2nd time in the day, it felt as if we've wasted ONE WHOLE day for polling.... darn! We've kinda wasted the "free" public holiday that comes once in 5yrs *sigh* (better planning next time pls...)

We got there before 8pm and it was still early, we chatted and exchanged our views and with internet, I hooked up with Otterman, Ladybird and Al via iChat. Since Al is in Beijing with NO CNA in his apartment and the online CNA traffic was too high for him to get decent updates, he had to rely on his buddies here in Singapore hee... it was great fun sharing the online chat with the different updates.

When WP won their first and only seat in Hougang, we could hear the WP cheers thoughout the estate. A sure testimony that the neighbourhood is very much awake! And that we can make ALL the noise that we want! ha ha ha....

When the updates ended at 1am, *yawn* we pack up and close shop, headed home and was too tired to do anymore blogging.

yep, i abstained from blogging for 2 days, trying to recover from the Rally Fever and now.... with this posting... will end the rally fever blogging that had been going on for the past week. ;)

I'm glad to be exposed to politics finally, through this past week's experience, I've learnt alot more about Singapore and the people behind it then I have ever learnt while in school. I've also learnt that there are many different types of media out there which can provide a coverage which at times our mainstream media may not be able to. Alternatives are available out there. Its just how hard you look and how hard you try. I feel more convinced that I'm not living alone on an island. There are many Singaporeans out there who takes risks, forgo their better prospectives abroad, spent less time with their family & loved ones just so that we can have a better future. For all those who has put in some effort, I salute you.

I will live as a more responsible citizen in Singapore for all the good stuff that we have are not just a result of the good fortunes of our good geographical location but also through the hardwork and dedication of many many many people.
(so if you get a scolding from me when I see you litter, I'm just doing my part as a responsible citizen... ha ha ha)
