taipei 07 street findings

the streets are full of goodies and interesting new stuff.

for example, the road system is slightly modified from our singapore roads to accommodate the higher number of motorcyclists on their streets. in front of the traffic lights for major junctions, there's a special area designated for the motorbikes, so even the cars cannot use this zone. Clearly, the motorists share their roads in perfect harmony.

in the pockets of spaces between two buildings, small parks are set up to engage the community in small huts for friendly chit-chat or playground for kids. also another great venue to set up an ad-hoc stall to sell anything imaginable.

there were even solar panels to take in the strong light from the sun and to be channelled for other uses.

the high end shops like Valentino, Gucci, etc are found located at the most unsuspecting places/buildings. I was walking towards Sogo from our hotel one afternoon and found lots of these shops lining the walkway. I wonder what's their marketing strategy for chosing this location. Perhaps more privacy from the paparazzis since its less public?
